The tenth edition of the Dutch Green Building Week took place from 21 to 25 September 2020. With #MadeinHolland as the theme of the week, Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) has put the Netherlands back on the international map. This anniversary edition is partly organized online and linked to the (online) activities of World Green Building Week. With #ActOnClimate, forces were joined and the challenges of tackling global climate change are key.

The Dutch Green Building Week has been the national campaign week to make the built environment more sustainable for years. The week gives a stage to companies and institutions that are ahead of topics such as CO2 reduction, Circularity, Climate adaptation and Health. The week was launched in 2011 to put all sustainability initiatives relating to the built environment in the spotlight. Every year, more than 10,000 visitors attend the events organised during the week. Dutch Green Building Week takes place at the same time as World Green Building Week.

The week offers many opportunities to get in touch with national and international pioneers, to listen to creative thinkers and doers and to those who enable a future-proof environment and society. Especially during these times.

World Green Building Week #ActOnClimate

The Dutch Green Building week 2020 had an more international character than recent years. A link was made to the World Green Building Week and the international program. Various international Green Building Councils, affiliated with the World Green Building Council (WGBC), have shared knowledge and enriched their own knowledge. With #ActOnClimate, the WGBC launched the worldwide campaign for World Green Building Week.

Theme: Made in Holland

The Netherlands has been a guiding country for many years when it comes to sustainability and the environment. More than 25 years ago, Minister Ed Nijpels launched the first National Environmental Policy Plan (NMP) that put the Netherlands on the international map and which formed a blueprint for various European policy plans. If it were up to DGBC, the Netherlands should take back its role as a guiding country with sustainable entrepreneurship for a sustainably built environment and a sustainable economy. This requires that we show what the Netherlands has to offer, but also what can be learned from what is happening abroad. #ActOnClimate #MadeinHolland.
