Verenigde Arabische Emiraten kiezen BREEAM

Aangemaakt op: 08 mei 2009

BRE Global and the Emirates Green Building Council have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to promote green building practice in the United Arab Emirates.

The memorandum includes the provision of exemplary guidance to industry throughout the Emirates and use of the Council’s membership to provide expert consultation for the development of new initiatives. The two bodies will also work together on a programme of joint events.

The Emirates Green Building Council was first set up in 2006 as the first organisation of its kind in the Gulf region. It is committed to promoting exemplar performance green buildings and encouraging the uptake of environmentally friendly technologies.BRE Global launched BREEAM Gulf in October 2008 following two years of stakeholder engagement, with credits tailored to the requirements of the construction industry and developers in the region.

BREEAM Gulf is designed to protect the region’s reputation for the construction of iconic buildings and meet nationally publicised commitments to reduce environmental impacts. The scheme sets an exceptional challenge and rewards environmental commitment by awarding a star rating of 1 to 5 stars, 1 being a Pass and 5 an Outstanding. It provides a stretching target for developers who want to demonstrate world-leading commitment to the environment.
