BRE Global has signed an agreement with the Russian Green Building Council for the adoption of BREEAM. The agreement will accelerate the development of BREEAM for the Russian market.

Flexibility
Martin Townsend, Director of BREEAM, said: “We are excited about the prospect of working with the Russian Green Building Council and a wide range of stakeholders to develop a national standard based on our knowledge and experience of increasing the sustainability of buildings. The wealth of experience we have gained in other markets will help the Council to increase the uptake of sustainable buildings and show the great flexibility of BREEAM to a wide range of markets.” Guy Eames, CEO of the Russian Green Building Council, said: “Green building standards are indeed becoming globally recognised – the Russian Green Building Council welcomes BRE Global’s commitment to bring BREEAM to Russia and is excited to be involved in the process.”

Powerful
BREEAM is now used extensively in a wide range of countries throughout Europe. In October last year, for example, the Dutch Green Building Council announced that it was adopting BREEAM for the Netherlands and last month BRE Global concluded a memorandum of understanding to work with the CSTB to align HQE and BREEAM in France. BRE Global, with partners CSTB, has also now formed a powerful new Sustainability Alliance to provide the direction and decisive leadership to improve the sustainability of buildings throughout Europe and beyond.
