ICSC “vergroent” winkelcentra met BREEAM

Aangemaakt op: 27 apr 2009

The International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) now has over twenty of its members’ shopping centres in thirteen countries being assessed under BREEAM. ICSC are using BREEAM to drive the sustainability of retail developments throughout Europe, creating a benchmark for their environmental performance to ensure ongoing improvements.

Ermine Amies, Managing Director at ICSC Europe said: “Whilst there has been much talk about the greening of buildings, over the last three years enlightened ICSC members have been taking practical steps to make sustainable development a reality. We are delighted that a growing number of our members are now reporting successful adoption of the BREEAM standard for their new developments.”

Paul Gibbon, Director of Sustainability at BRE Global said : “We are pleased that ICSC are designing an increasing number of developments using BREEAM. BREEAM is an exacting standard with the ability to provide positive payback in terms of better environmental performance and ultimately reduced running costs.”
